Sami's hot dogs is a must when visiting DC. Hot dog had onions, jalapenos, chili, ketchup and mustard. We got the spicy sausage which gave it an extra kick. Also it's located in a convenient location across from a little park with lots of sitting, and they do take card for payment. Sami was also super friendly. Will come here again when visiting DC

We stopped for a quick bite in between site seeing. Sami was super friendly and dished up a few hot dogs for us. Each one was delicious! Great pricing and awesome service. All around would recommend.

Came back to try the "jumbo spicy," which I got with chili and onions. It was even *better* than the normal hot dog - just enough of a kick to be spicy without being overwhelming, and just an overall great taste. Can't wait to go back again!

As a native Washingtonian, hot dog carts were all the rave back in the 80's and 90's. You could find them everywhere in the city, uptown, downtown, even some crossing the border into Maryland. It was always two glizzy's, a bag of chips and a drink for under $5. Unbeatable price. Then all of a sudden in the 2000's era, all the carts seemed to disappear. The only ones that remained were the ones that catered strictly to tourists downtown by the national monument, but every place else seem to dry up. It's pained me to miss out on my childhood favorite after all these years. Enter Sami. Sami is a living legend whose made his way through that time capsule and (at the time of writing this in 2024) is alive and doing ever so well. His half smokes are SOOOO reminiscent of those days growing up in the city and you really can't find this any place else. Not even the imitation ones closer to all the action and charging thrice the price. The chili cheese and onion dog is a DC staple and Sami's brings it every time. Spicy or regular, both hit the spot with that original DC flavor. The cheese sauce is gooey, the onions are fresh and the chili speaks for itself. Go check out Uncle Ben if you want to, but I'd prefer these half smokes everyday of the week, twice on Sundays. This cart brought back memories of running around uptown and getting into mischief, which felt like a hard days work, all to stop off and grab a chili cheese onion hot dog and a quarter water. This is the real DC & Sami is a legend in this city. His cart is definitely worth a trip if you wanna know want an authentic DC dog is like. You won't regret it. Shukran habibi.

I was excited to check out Sami's Hot Dog Cart, as I'm always in the mood for a good hot dog! Based on the reviews, it seems as if this cart is known for their half-smoke and chili cheese dogs, using Sabrett dogs. We were able to catch them on a weekend afternoon, and we ordered: +a half-smoke with all the recommended fixings (chili, melted cheese, raw onions, mustard, ketchup, and pickled jalapenos) +a spicy jumbo dog with chili, cheese, and raw onions The hot dogs were definitely generous in size, piping hot, and juicy - the half-smoke was definitely more flavorful and tastier than the chili cheese dog with all the toppings; note you'll have to consume these right away, as the buns can break apart. I wasn't personally a fan of the no-bean beef chili, so I'll probably just get a simple dog next time. Sami was extremely friendly, kind, and welcoming! He is more than happy to offer recommendations, or you can leave it up to him to create a customized dog for you! You even get a complimentary dessert mint, which I thought was super cute and a nice added touch! They accept all forms of payment, which is super convenient. The cart is located in front of the Federal Aviation Administration building, across from Hancock Park; there's very limited metered street parking in the area. +ask for Sami! +friendly service +customizable dogs +located in front of the Federal Aviation Administration building +limited metered parking available

Linda, you have to listen to this! Why on earth isn't this food truck parked right in the middle of the mall? It's an absolute hidden gem and a must-visit spot! We had the best chili dogs here, and the prices were incredibly accommodating. It's safe to say this was one of the best lunch meals we had during our entire trip. Countless friends had been urging us to check it out, and finally, we did. Let me tell you, it was absolutely worth it. Just make sure to look for the one that says "Sami's" on the side because there are some imposters down the street that almost look the same. But believe me, nothing compares to the real deal at Sami's!

I have visited Sami's at least 3 times in the last year and did not leave a review! My apologies. First let me say that Sami is the kind of person who thanks and acknowledges everyone who supports his business. So many can learn A#1 customer service from him. When I got my first hot dog from his cart almost 2 years ago; I stood to the side to eat and observe how he treated every customer who stood in line up to 10 minutes to be served by him. The food is a comfort staple and the conversation even better!

So let's just start by saying Sami was a really humble and awesome person. I told him about how his reviews online were amazing and he said he doesn't even check them, he just enjoys the company of the people who come to see him. I totally believe that, especially because (it was slow this time of day so it wasn't an issue for service) he spent a few minutes talking with us and a few minutes talking with the people just before us. I asked him to tell me what I wanted, which I often do where I get to speak with the owner. He asked if I liked spicy, and then he was off to the races. I tried the spicy half smoke with chili, cheese, onion, and sriracha. This was an excellent dog (if you even call a half smoke a dog, who knows haha) that I would definitely get again. A nice little amount of heat on the dog, the chili was meaty and delicious (with no beans), the onion was small dice and fresh, and the sriracha gave it a nice little added pop. I will tell you I've had the half smoke at Ben's and I feel this was just as good. I will definitely be back to try his regular dogs with the chili so I can see the difference in heat level from that to the half smoke. Sami's Hot Dog Cart in Washington, DC - Didn't Suck!
